This alarming statistic underscores a pervasive crisis, with human errors, environmental elements and behavioural factors contributing significantly to road accidents. Recent studies show that overspeeding, non-usage of helmets and seat belts, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, wrong-side driving and mobile phone use as some of the leading causes.
At Sarvejana Foundation, we recognise this critical need and are committed to addressing the alarming rate of road accidents in India. Through the ‘STOP Road Accidents’ initiative, we aim to make our roads safer for everyone.

Transform the city of Hyderabad into a safer one for everyone, from drivers to pedestrians, by focusing on behavioural change through engaging public awareness campaigns and targeted road safety activities.
Comprehensive public awareness campaigns that aim to reduce road traffic accidents by promotional activities across social media, community outreach programs and education.
An innovative app launched to educate the people, spread awareness on road safety statistics, road signs and empower the people to play a part in preventing road mishaps.
Engaging road safety awareness programs for students, organised in collaboration with various government and private educational institutions, to help students learn about road safety at a young age and be the change in the future.
Specialised workshops on being a “First Responder” during emergencies, organised in collaboration with Nirmaan Foundation for Disaster Response Force (DRF) personnel of the Enforcement, Vigilance & Disaster Management (EV & DM) wing under the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC).
Making high accident-prone zones safer with low-cost improvements such as signage, speed breakers and markings, as well as deploying road marshals. Junction improvement is part of the “Engineering” approach to road safety. The WIPRO Circle was made pedestrian friendly as an example of this.
